Why do I care so much about making a home lovely?
I've watched what it does.
It's not causation, but it is correlation to many worthy things such as: healthy pride (including for the children), sense of roots and belonging, hospitality & fellowship, celebration, security, and domestic satisfaction.
In a sense, it's an external way to sort internal values. Making a comfortable gathering area with a shelf for games maybe doesn't create family memories - but it sets us up for success. I believe in knowing your purpose, and putting family and function first. But why not make personality and beauty flow in all of that?
